Albany NY DJ | Stressed out wedding couples ... don't be one of them.

One thing is for certain. If you're planning a wedding you're probably going to be stressed out. It's one of the biggest events in a person's life and everyone wants it to go perfectly.

There's tons of details to attend to, suggestions from friends and family members, delicate family issues to deal with and obvious differences of opinions among those helping to plan the wedding -- to name just a few. Sometimes the budget gets strained adding even more stress. So, is there anything that can be done about it?

Well, yes and no. There's probably no way to eliminate all the stress of planning a major event like a wedding, but here are some suggestions.

Start planning as early as possible to give yourself plenty of time to attend to all the details. Book your venue, photographer and DJ first if you want someone good because once they're gone, they're gone.

Invitations, menus, dresses, tuxedos and the like can all be chosen later. A florist can handle multiple weddings in a day just by sending out a delivery truck to deliver the flowers to the church and banquet hall. With advance notice even a baker can make several cakes for that special day.

It's your big day and it should reflect your vision and commitment to each other. But, be willing to compromise where you can and discuss ideas with friends and family. They're probably eagerly awaiting your big day as much as you and want some of their ideas incorporated, too. Remember, long after the wedding day is over you still have to deal with family and friends. Make the wedding a shared event that brings everyone closer together if you can manage it.

Be sure you hire experienced professionals to work with who are part of the solution and not part of the problem. Your photographer and DJ, if experienced, will work together as a finely oiled machine if they've done lots of weddings.

Your photographer is there to capture all the memories and happening at your special day.
Your Albany NY DJ will not only handle your party but will be the Master of Ceremonies for your event and will be up front entertaining. He or she can make or break your wedding. So be sure you find someone reliable, easy to work with and knowledgeable who will make your jobs of being the bridal couple easy.

Finally, keep in mind that, when under stress, everything looks bigger and seems more important than it probably really is. Try to keep things in perspective and maintain a calm, understanding approach to wedding planning and things will go just fine!

If you have issues, problems or just a story you'd like to share, post it here -- we'd all love to hear from you. For more information please visit my web site at Albany NY DJ.

Should I choose a DJ who uses Mp3's or CD's ... does it really matter?

Years ago all DJ's played vinyl records because that's all that was available and the quality was excellent. A few DJ's today still spin vinyl but usually only in nightclub or competition situations.

Jump ahead to CD's which are digitally mastered. The actual sound quality of a CD is slightly inferior to that of a vinyl record -- but it's doubtful many could really hear the slight difference. In addition, CD's give a much cleaner sound without all the pops, hisses and needle scratching of records. The debate rages on but the fact is that the vinyl record is, for all practical purposes, dead in the water in today's marketplace.

Jump forward again to the mp3 generation. Here we are definitely trading convenience and portability for sound quality. An mp3 just doesn't have the sound quality of a CD. There's no way it could have the same quality. There's significantly less digital information on an mp3 than on a CD.

Recording studios and artists spend tens of thousands of dollars to produce the highest quality audio money can buy ... so do you really want to convert that great sound to an mp3 and destroy much of that quality?

The answer is probably, yes, when you're carrying your music around on your mp3 player or cell phone. It's just darn impractical and inconvenient to carry CD's around during the day at work, while jogging, etc. But do you really want mp3's at your wedding or party?

Usually DJ's who carry mp3's do so for their convenience because mp3's are stored on a laptop or other CPU based machine and are much lighter to carry and easier to transport than CD's and require a lot less space. Also, mp3's are easier to search and use. But that portability and convenience comes at a cost.

In spite of the few who assert that mp3's are good enough and sound fine over high quality pa and sound equipment the fact remains that they can never sound as good as the digital information stored on a CD because the digital info on an mp3 just isn't there once the information is compressed into that format.

Mp3's sound pretty decent on tiny ear buds with an mp3 player, but why amplify poor sound at your wedding or event?

So, which DJ should you choose ... one who uses mp3's or CD's?
It depends on the sound quality you want. And only you can decide what's right for you.

Albany NY DJ - Personality or Professionalism?

Albany NY DJ, Sal Cioppa from Preemo DJ & Entertainment receives a variety of questions that go something like this: "should we look primarily for a DJ with a great personality or one that seems extremely professional?"

Of course you need to have a DJ thats able to connect with the attendees and get the party going... it's also important that he's able to have a sense of humor and let everyone know that he's enjoying himself! No one likes to see a DJ sitting in a chair looking bored.

Even with a great personality, professionalism still plays an important role. Your Albany DJ should be able to handle any unexpected situation that arises. There is never an "ordinary" event. You need a DJ that can think on his feet, "roll with the punches" and make sure he delivers a great event no matter what the circumstances.

So the answer? You need to look for both... just like any relationship. There should be a personal connection between you and your DJ that you feel comfortable with but you also need to make sure they have the expeience and know-how to deal with any situation.

Please visit my website at: Albany NY DJ, to find a professiona DJ with a personality that will make your wedding or special event sizzle!

Choosing Music For Your Wedding

As an Albany NY DJ with many years experience, one question clients repeatedly ask of me is, “Should I choose the music for the dance party at my wedding or should I let my DJ do that?”

Choosing music for your wedding or special event can be a daunting task. Even an experienced DJ can’t reliably predict in advance the musical twists and turns your party might take. Some DJ’s will attempt to program an entire evening’s music, and even though some music seems to have fairly universal appeal, there’s still no assurance that will be the music you and guests really want to hear.

An experienced DJ will start out playing great music people recognize and then gradually explore the genres of music best suited to the party. Requests will be made by guests, the dance floor will fill for certain tunes and lots of energy will be created by songs that are popular and familiar to your guests requiring your DJ to shift gears quickly to adapt to the desires of your guests.

A DJ with years of experience has the feel and finesse to be gently guided by the listening audience to arrive at the best mix of music ensuring a great party and a fun time for everyone. Your DJ is uniquely qualified for this task.

My advice, in general, would be to give your DJ wide latitude in choosing music on the fly as that’s the major skill they bring to the table. It’s essential the bride and groom have input into the music selection process. And you should, of course, be working with an experienced DJ you feel confident is up to the task. But then let your DJ do what he or she does best.

Give a good DJ free rein at a party and you’ll most likely have a great party.

Albany NY DJ - Should I Choose a DJ or Band At My Wedding?

You've been planning your wedding and now it's time to make a decision on music. Typically there are two choices, a wedding band or a DJ. For years I've been asked the question, “which is better”. The answer is that it depends on a number of events and factors surrounding your wedding and reception. Remember, having the right music at your reception is absolutely crucial to setting the mood and providing a great time for you and your guests.

I'm an Albany NY DJ with extensive experience in providing the music at weddings both as a DJ and as a member of a live band. There is nothing like the energy that a live band can create when everything is right... the problem is that it can be very difficult to find (and afford) a band that will give you that kind of performance.

One of the big issues to look at is cost. Many times a good band will cost a minimum of $2,000 and often as high as $10,000. You can find a great DJ generally under $1,000. While music does make the reception, I do understand that there is a limit on how much most of us can spend. My advice, unless you have a limitless budget, is to spend a little extra to get a top-notch DJ and let them create the atmosphere you're looking for. You'll save money and still get someone who will make your reception sizzle!

Other variables to look at when making your decision are song selection and volume. Most bands are really great at one type of music. Ask them to play another style half-way through your reception and they may be in trouble. Most DJ's have a wide variety of music and experienced DJ's can easily move from one genre to another without missing a beat.

Some bands have only one volume... loud! In a small venue this could overpower the room. Ask them to turn down the volume and it may effect the way they play. On the other hand, with the slight turn of a knob the DJ can adjust the volume to the right level within seconds.

No matter what your decision, the key is to be comfortable with the DJ or band that will be performing at your wedding. Talk to them well in advance. Let them know any special requests. Give them an indication of who and how many will be attending. Ask the DJ or band leader their opinion if you're unsure about a music or sound issue... remember, they're the experts.

There is a good selection of Albany NY DJ's and Bands to choose from. Talk, check references, ask questions and then relax and look forward to your big day.

Albany, NY DJ: How To Pick The Perfect DJ for Your Wedding or Party

As a long time Albany NY DJ I believe I'm uniquely qualified to help you hire the perfect DJ for your next event.

Here are the most important points in hiring a great DJ for a wedding or party:

1) How long has your Albany NY DJ been in business? Experience is the key ingredient you are paying for -- otherwise you could just get your Uncle Charlie to play your iPod through a set of speakers. Your DJ should have a track record of successful business operation over a period of years -- not months or weeks.

2) Can your DJ offer references from satisfied clients who have hired an him?

3) Is your Albany NY DJ a member of the National Association of Mobile Entertainers or other trade association ensuring he or she is competent, reliable and honest?

4) Does your DJ carry adequate liability insurance? Is your Albany NY DJ able to supply a Certificate of Insurance guaranteeing that you and your guests are adequately protected in the event of an accident or other unfortunate event?

5) Does your DJ use CD's, which offer the highest quality sound -- or does your Albany NY DJ use compressed MP3's which, although convenient to carry, result in poorer quality music?

6) Does your DJ show up in person or are you choosing a company who sells you on hiring them without guaranteeing you'll get the Albany NY DJ you want? Remember, employees can quit or get fired -- hiring a DJ in business for him or herself will insure you get what you paid for.

7) Can your DJ provide other services besides music? Can your Albany NY DJ sing or play a musical instrument to entertain during cocktails or dinner? Can he or she provide complete entertainment services such as a strolling magician or magic show, ventriloquism comedy show, live classical guitar, karaoke, dance floor lighting and perhaps even professional photographic services?

8) How do you feel about your DJ? Your wedding or special event is too important to use someone you don't feel comfortable with right from the beginning. Your Albany NY DJ will be a key component of hosting a successful event. Be sure you're hiring someone you feel you can work with effectively.

9) Don't hire an Albany NY DJ on price alone. DJ's are NOT all the same. Remember, you get what you pay for and to get a performer with experience and talent who is reliable and personable and has the ability to act as Master of Ceremonies for your event requires someone who is worth their fee.

Following the above points will help you hire a great Albany NY DJ for YOUR next event. Best wishes and good luck hosting your next event!
